Event Description: The taxing pace and conflicting demands of today’s world, place undue pressure on both our mind and body, and undermine our sense of wellbeing and inner peace. Over time, this leads to burnout or poor health, and can create a sense of dislocation from ourselves and our goals. Taoist Qigong, or Dao Yin, which evolved in China in an unbroken tradition, over a period of more than 4,000 years provides an antidote. Sometimes dubbed ‘Human Medicine,’ the ancient wisdom of Qigong offers a wealth of yogic arts which, recent scientific research increasingly agrees, help combat stress, enhance health and vitality, balance emotions and quieten the mind.

Join us for a weekend of simple yet powerful qigong practices which will loosen and stretch your body, activate your body’s internal “energy grid,” or ‘Qi,’ and bring peace and relaxation to your mind. We will experience: The harmonising energy of movement; The strengthening power of stillness; The transforming power of breath; The healing resonance of sound.

You will learn short Qigong sets that you can take home with you and continue to practice in your own time, to help replenish vital life-force energy and strengthen your body’s innate healing wisdom.  Over time, these practices prove to be a helpful tool in fostering emotional harmony and balance, while working towards restoring unity of heart and mind.

Muriel began her study of Taoist health and longevity practices almost 30 years ago when living and working in China, and was introduced to additional meditation and healing traditions while in Egypt and India. To add a western perspective to her understanding, she further explored the Science of Consciousness, as taught at the Monro Institute, USA, and the International Academy of Conscientology in London. However, Taoist study and practice remained her primary focus, and during this time, she became certified as a Universal Healing Tao instructor of Qigong, Tai Ch’i and meditation, and practitioner of both Chi Nei Tsang and Tuina, hands on therapies, which follow the principles of acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Over the last seven years, Muriel has undertaken intensive training in DaMo-Qigong and Wudang Taoist Internal Alchemy, under the guidance of her teacher Master Hu Xue Zhi, in the sacred Taoist mountain of Wudang, China. Each year she spends several months in China continuing her own training, and assisting Master Hu with teaching on his annual DaMo Qigong and Wudang Taoist Internal Alchemy retreats.  Muriel is currently the only instructor based outside Asia, who is authorized by Master Hu to teach in UK and elsewhere. A member of the Scientific and Medical Network in UK, the Healing Tao Association of North America, the World Universal Healing Tao Instructor Faculty, Thailand, and the Wudang Taoist Internal Alchemy and Damo Qigong Faculty, China, Muriel has taught in a number of countries over the last 10 years.
