The Elements World Theatre presents

The Old Woman Who Lived in a ...
A New Fable with Drama, Poetry and Live Music
By Lee Gershuny | Directed by Corinne Harris

Supported by the Edinburgh International Centre for Spirituality and Peace, EICSP, Scottish Charity, SC038996.

Following the premier at the 2011 Middle East Festival, this production is now showing on the Edinburgh Fringe, and touring more widely.

Whatever happened to the children that ‘The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe’ beat black and blue? This new fable, by an award-winning playwright, picks up the action 20 years after the nursery rhyme ends, with the now grown-up children hungry for revenge. But before they can do their worst, a mysterious Waiter enables them to break the spell of past pain with storytelling, music and a cauldron of tricks.

“A lovely entertaining fable, mixing up nursery rhyme, story and song into a multi-voiced, multi-layered soufflĂ© that illuminates universal themes of childhood and growing up. It communicates across the spectrum its message of not holding others to account, for our own failings, as well as the acceptance and understanding of others and ourselves."
Audience Member, Feb 2011

"There was a great feeling of compassion/humour that I took from the play and the ‘message’ being that no one is to blame in these situations."
Audience Member, Feb 2011

“A lovely evening, showing how changing one’s perspective can be so liberating.”
Audience Member, Feb 2011
